Live Music & Karaoke Sound on a Dubai Restaurant Bus

Restaurant bus roaming the Dubai skyline at night

The brief was simple to say and a bit more interesting to build: one sound system for an entire moving restaurant bus in Dubai — ambient background music while cruising, and live karaoke on demand whenever a guest wants the mic. Everything controlled from a mobile app, with no separate DJ booth or equipment rack anywhere on board.

At a Glance

4 Speakers

Artsound UNI20 on-wall speakers, black — one zone covering the whole bus interior.

1 Amplifier

A single MX60MKII mixing amplifier driving all four speakers.

1 Zone

No separate zones needed — background music and karaoke share the same simple signal chain.

~5,000 AED

Approximate end-user budget for the full system, installed.

Bill of Materials

ComponentQty
MX60MKII mixing amplifier — Bluetooth, USB, SD, AUX, MIC1
Smart Stream 2 streaming pre-amplifier — Spotify Connect, AirPlay, DLNA, UPnP, Qplay1
UNI20 on-wall speaker, black — 10–40W4
SVC4.2 4-channel volume control, black — independent level per speaker1
Wireless microphone — karaoke input1

How It's Wired Together

Smart Stream 2 streams music into the amplifier's AUX input over Spotify Connect, AirPlay, DLNA, UPnP or Qplay — whoever's running the show can cast from almost any app. A wireless microphone plugs into the amplifier's dedicated MIC input, so a live vocal mixes straight on top of the streamed music the moment someone picks it up for karaoke. The MX60MKII amplifier then drives all four UNI20 speakers through an SVC4.2 volume controller, which lets the level be balanced independently at each speaker position around the bus.

One amplifier, one zone, one signal chain — background music and live karaoke never need separate equipment.

Why it works: the compact black UNI20 speakers disappear into the bus's dark, glossy window frames and trim. Mobile-app control means the system runs from anywhere on board, and one simple signal chain handles both the ambient soundtrack and any live performance without swapping equipment mid-service.

The Result

Dinner, skyline views, and a live mic that turns any evening into karaoke night — proof that Artsound sounds as good on the move as it does at home. If you're planning audio for a vehicle, marquee, or any other unconventional space, the same approach applies: keep the signal chain simple, pick speakers that disappear into the space, and put control in one app.
