The Basics
What Is DALI, and How Does It Work With KNX?
DALI: lighting only
DALI is a lighting control protocol. Every LED driver gets its own address, so each light can be dimmed on its own and reports back faults such as a failed lamp.
KNX: the whole building
KNX runs lighting, air conditioning, blinds and more from one system — but it does not talk to DALI drivers directly. KNX acts as the backbone that links several DALI lines together.
The gateway in between
A KNX DALI gateway in the distribution board translates between the two. One DALI line handles up to 64 devices, so larger floors use more gateways or a 2-gang model.

What is KNX DALI lighting control?

How many lights can one DALI gateway control?

Can KNX DALI control tunable white and colour?
Yes. The JUNG KNX DALI-2 Gateway Colour sets colour temperature and RGB or RGBW colour on luminaires with DALI Device Type 8, such as ONE Light DT8 tunable-white fittings.
Do you supply the DALI drivers and light fittings too?
Yes. ONE Light makes DALI-dimmable drivers such as the 89009L, 89040L and 89050TLD, plus DALI track and magnetic-track fittings, so the whole lighting chain comes from one distributor.
Can the lighting be controlled from an app?
Yes. ComfortClick connects to KNX and adds the app and visualisation, so lighting scenes can be controlled from phones, tablets and wall panels together with air conditioning, blinds and other building systems.
