How to Integrate Artsound's Smart Family With Your Home Automation System

Villa owners almost always want the same thing once automation enters the picture: audio that's part of the same system as the lighting, the shading, and everything else — not a separate app fighting for attention on its own. Thanks to Artsound's Smart Family, that's possible. Smart Hyde, Smart Stream, Smart Zone 4, and Smart EVO are all built on the LinkPlay streaming platform, giving native network streaming out of the box (Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, AirPlay, internet radio) plus a single API that every major domotic brand can connect to. Here are the options.

The Integration Options

KNX — via the Arcus Gateway

A standard KNX/IP interface bridges the KNX bus to the Smart Family device's network API, mapping volume, source selection, playback, and multiroom grouping onto KNX group addresses. The Arcus KNX gateway is Dedott's out-of-the-box solution for this path — built specifically to bridge network audio devices onto a KNX bus without custom scripting.

ComfortClick bOS

ComfortClick bOS includes a ready-made Smart Hyde device profile, letting integrators bring Artsound audio into a KNX-based smart building without writing custom scripts. For projects already standardized on ComfortClick as the control software — common on Dedott's KNX installs, since Dedott supplies both the JUNG hardware and ComfortClick software — the audio profile drops straight into the same interface already running the rest of the house.

Teletask

Teletask integration requires a Teletask controller fitted with an AV-IP license. More detail is available directly from Teletask at teletask.be.

Qbus

Qbus integration requires the Qbus controller together with the UBIE IP interface. More detail is available directly from Qbus at qbus.be.

Velbus

Velbus takes a different route than the others: rather than a dedicated Velbus-side module, ArtSound Smart is integrated into Home Assistant, and Velbus systems reach it through that. See velbus.eu and the official ArtSound integration page on Home Assistant — the integration runs on the LinkPlay platform, is maintained by Velleman (Velbus's parent company), and communicates locally over the network rather than depending on the cloud.

Dobiss

Dobiss also supports integration, and was among the first automation brands to connect to the Smart Family through the API — though the exact hardware requirement on the Dobiss side isn't fully confirmed on our end. Worth checking directly with Dobiss before specifying it on a project.

Why It Matters for Integrators

Because every Smart Family product shares the same underlying LinkPlay platform and the same API, one integration approach per automation brand scales across the entire range. A Smart Hyde in one zone and a Smart Stream in another can be controlled through the same KNX, ComfortClick, Teletask, Qbus, Velbus, or Dobiss logic, with no per-device reconfiguration — the mapping work done once for the platform carries across every Smart Family model used on the project.

One Source for the Audio and the Automation

Dedott FZCO supplies and supports the full Artsound Smart Family alongside JUNG KNX components across the Middle East, which means a KNX project can source the audio hardware, the KNX switches, and the integration path — Arcus gateway or ComfortClick — from a single supplier rather than coordinating separate vendors for the audio and automation sides of the same system. FAQ

Does every Artsound Smart Family device integrate the same way?

Yes — because Smart Hyde, Smart Stream, Smart Zone 4, and Smart EVO all share the same LinkPlay platform and the same underlying API, the integration approach for a given automation brand applies across the range without separate setup work per model.

Do I need custom scripting to integrate Smart Family speakers with KNX?

Not necessarily. The Arcus KNX/IP gateway maps the device onto KNX group addresses directly, and ComfortClick bOS includes a ready-made Smart Hyde profile — both are built to avoid custom scripting for a standard integration.

Which automation platforms work with the Smart Family?

KNX (via the Arcus gateway or ComfortClick bOS), Teletask (with an AV-IP license), Qbus (with the UBIE IP interface), Velbus (via the official ArtSound integration in Home Assistant), and Dobiss all connect to the Smart Family through the same Artsound API.

Is it worth adding a domotic platform just to integrate Smart Family audio?

Generally no. These integrations are cost-effective when the automation platform is already installed in the project. Bringing in a new automation brand solely for audio integration is always the more expensive route.

What streaming services do Smart Family speakers support natively?

Because they're built on the LinkPlay platform, Smart Family devices support native network streaming including Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, AirPlay, and internet radio, independent of whatever automation integration is layered on top.
