How to Choose a Speaker
In-ceiling or on-wall?
In-ceiling and in-wall speakers disappear into the room and suit living rooms, restaurants and offices. On-wall speakers need no cut-out, so they are the easy choice for existing rooms, gyms and shops.
Low-impedance or 100V?
Homes and small rooms use low-impedance (8 Ω) speakers with a stereo amplifier. Larger venues with many speakers and long cable runs use 100V speakers, each with its own power tap.
Indoor, bathroom or outdoor?
Bathrooms, kitchens and covered terraces need splash-proof or IP44+ speakers. Gardens and pool areas need outdoor models rated IP54 or IP66.

Acoustic back-boxes stop rattles and resonance behind in-ceiling and in-wall speakers, precast concrete kits create a speaker cavity before the concrete is poured, and flush-mount kits set the Intiimi grille perfectly level with the ceiling.

Common Questions
What is the difference between in-ceiling and in-wall speakers?
In-ceiling speakers are usually round or square and fire sound down into the room, which spreads music evenly. In-wall speakers are usually rectangular and fire sound across the room, which suits home cinema and stereo listening. Many Artsound models, such as Intiimi and Flat, come in both shapes.
Which speakers can be used in a bathroom or by the pool?
Use waterproof models: the MDC6 and DC84 are rated IP44 for bathrooms, while the MDC6.2 and MDC64.2 are IP66 and marine-grade. Outdoors, the ASW550, ASW800, KURV and PSW525 are rated IP66.
Do I need 100V speakers?
Use 100V speakers when a project has many speakers or long cable runs, such as restaurants, malls, offices and warehouses. Each 100V speaker has selectable power taps and connects to a 100V mixing or power amplifier. Homes and single rooms normally use low-impedance (8 Ω) speakers.
Do you supply installation kits for ceiling speakers?
Yes. Acoustic back-boxes, precast concrete kits and Intiimi flush-mount kits are available for the in-ceiling and in-wall models. Tell us the speaker model and we will match the right kit.
